Palacio Real, or the Royal Palace is world renowned for its statues and gardens among other things. The palace, which was built in 25 years, was utilized by an extensive list of Spanish rulers until 1931, and at one time it was the core of sovereignty for an empire in the eighteenth century that governed half of the then-known world.

Even with 90 percent of the palace being closed off from public viewing, the remaining portion is still far larger than anyone could see in one day. It’s made up of nearly three thousand rooms, 240 balconies and over forty staircases, and lavish and lush furniture, decorations, ornaments and other objects can be seen everywhere.

Two incredible pieces of history you will witness at the palace are the Throne Room, where the plans of attack of what was once the world’s most renowned global force were developed; and the Royal Army, which exhibits numerous weapons and armor and an array of medieval torment devices that were employed during the Spanish Inquisition.

Outside of Palacio Real, you can walk through the Royal Gardens (which are the most famous in Madrid), enjoy the sight of the Manzanares River, and watch the changing of the guards.

The greatest way to enjoy the exhibits and become versed in the history of the palace is by taking a guided, two-hour tour. Be sure to book these $30 tours in advance, especially in the summer months, as they sell out quickly. You cannot take pictures at the Palacio Real, but you can buy postcards and books at the end of the tour as souvenirs.

To conclude,travelling may not only be for vacation. As I speak, my wife had to spend the whole day to travel out of state to go get her sister and take her to the passport office to renew her travel documents because her husband lost his mother and they need to travel to Ghana next week to bury her.

Things would have been smoother if she had, done this renewal long ago because the Embassies can not guarantee a quick nor instant renewal.

There is always a waiting list even if you are a prince, and these files are served on a first come first serve basis.

The NWMP or the North West Mountain Police was created to help bring order to the Gold Rush situation. Constantine was a man asked by the Canadian government to set up a police force, to control the Gold Rush, these were the Mounties. They were very successful in keeping the peace at Yukon and had a massive amount of responsibilities ranging from; policing the highway to sorting out disputes between new settlers, they were even appointed the personal guard to the Monarch. Although they were successful at keeping the peace they did allow some illegal activities to continue such as gambling and prostitution.

Today the Mounties are still a well established force and respected throughout Canada, they are very much a large piece of Canada’s history. “We always catch our man”, this was the Motto that the Mounties were very famous for, they were well known for being able to catch anyone they hunted.
